about

Jace Krause and Jake Rohr had just gone through a band breakup and wanted to change the way they made music. They wanted to eschew polished studio sounds and capture the rough edges and untethered sound of a garage demo.

The men set up shop in Krause's garage with just a few mics, a laptop, and some songs. They invited friend Ryan Lynch to contribute his ideas, and with his help, their breezy folk rock songs got pushed into a loose, experimental sonic landscape.

It was a refreshing departure from Seattle's "guy with a guitar" music scene. More songs followed, and the resulting 10 tracks became Fort Union's debut self-titled album.
